ZenCharge won Urban Mobility KIC Prize

MET3R ZenCharge won third prize at the Urban Mobility KIC competition in Budapest. We competed against a regional cohort of nine other startups, offering amazingly innovative solutions to problems arising in 21st century cities.

Today, all our energy needs could be covered by renewables, but storing intermittent renewable energy is challenging and expensive. At the same time, electric cars and buses hit the road en masse and their batteries provide ample storage capacity to store renewables and balance out energy networks.

ZenCharge is a software service for fleet operators and energy companies that uses the batteries of EVs to balance electricity grids.

EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Since January 2019, EIT Urban Mobility has been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. EIT UMKIC aims to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. Co-funding of up to EUR 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT, a body of the European Union, will help make this happen.
