Hungary is taking major steps toward energy independence and smarter energy systems. The country is placing a strong focus on AI-based energy management and industrial-scale energy storage (BESS).
According to recent government announcements, large-scale energy storage solutions will play a crucial role in reducing electricity costs and balancing the grid. By storing excess solar power during the day and feeding it back into the system at night, Hungary aims to stabilize energy prices and maximize renewable utilization. As Minister Márton Nagy put it: “We basically have two Paks – one nuclear, the other solar.”
This shift perfectly reflects MET3R’s mission: using data-driven, AI-powered energy optimization to balance generation, storage, and consumption. Our platform is designed to help industries and energy providers get the most out of renewable sources while ensuring reliability and cost efficiency.
Alongside the energy measures, the government has also updated the national AI strategy, introducing two significant funding programs to accelerate innovation:
These initiatives create a favorable environment for digital energy systems and AI-based control. They also support the development of smart storage technologies, which is exactly where MET3R operates.
With this new direction, Hungary is investing in cleaner and smarter energy. At the same time, it is laying the groundwork for sustainable, technology-driven economic growth.
