METER February Update: Energy Management, Cybersecurity and Second Life Battery Storage

February marked an important step forward for METER and its energy management solutions. During the month we strengthened our international presence, cybersecurity foundations and real world deployment activities.

Global recognition for METER’s energy management solutions

METER has been selected for the SET100 List 2026, which highlights the most innovative energy startups worldwide. The recognition shows that intelligent energy management and second life battery storage are becoming key building blocks of the energy transition.

METER was also present at E world in Essen, where we met partners and other companies working on the future of energy systems.

Strengthening cybersecurity in energy management systems

In parallel, we started aligning our product development with IEC 62443, the leading cybersecurity standard for Industrial Automation and Control Systems.

We are introducing a structured Secure Development Lifecycle with clear checkpoints and responsibilities. This approach ensures that cybersecurity becomes a built in part of our energy management platform, not something added later.

Real world energy management deployment in Szeged

We also continued our work in Szeged at the Energy Innovation Test Station of the University of Szeged, where research meets industrial validation.

METER is delivering a demo second life battery energy storage system built from repurposed EV battery modules. The system has 128 kWh capacity, 20 kW DC power and an integrated 11 kW AC charger.

This project demonstrates how circular battery use and intelligent energy management can work together in a real environment.
