MET3R attended the Citizens Energy Package event at the European Parliament

MET3R participated in the “Citizens Energy Package: towards more secure and affordable energy” event, held at the European Parliament in Brussels and organised by REScoop.eu with the support of Energy Cities and Climate Action Network Europe.

On 9 June 2026, MET3R attended a European Parliament event dedicated to the future of citizen-led energy initiatives and energy communities in Europe. The event focused on the Citizens Energy Package, the European Commission’s initiative aimed at making the clean energy transition more affordable, inclusive and accessible for citizens.

The discussion brought together Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, civil society organisations, local energy experts and energy community stakeholders. Participants reflected on how the objectives of the Citizens Energy Package can be turned into practical action at local, national and European level.

MET3R was represented at the event by Csaba Pesti, Founder of MET3R. His participation provided an important opportunity to follow the latest EU-level policy discussions on energy communities, energy sharing, affordability, flexibility and the role of citizens in the energy transition.

For MET3R, the topic is closely connected to our ongoing work. Energy communities are becoming an increasingly important part of Europe’s decentralised energy future, especially as municipalities, local communities and citizens look for ways to reduce energy costs, increase resilience and make better use of renewable energy.

The event also highlighted a key challenge of the energy transition: local energy systems need not only more renewable capacity, but also better coordination, transparent data management and flexible operation. This is where digital energy management solutions can play a crucial role.
At MET3R, we support municipalities and local stakeholders with data-driven energy management tools that help connect energy production, consumption, storage and decision-making in one transparent system. Our work in local energy communities reflects the same direction discussed at the European Parliament: enabling citizens, municipalities and communities to actively participate in a more secure, affordable and sustainable energy system.
