Octopus Energy has partnered with DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company, to deliver solar and battery installations in Ukraine. Through their new initiative, called RISE (Resilient Independent Solar Energy), the goal is to install 100 clean energy systems across the country within three years.
According to The Times, this €100 million project will support energy independence, lower business costs, and modernize Ukraine’s power system. Furthermore, it comes at a critical time.
Since the beginning of the war, around 70% of Ukraine’s thermal power capacity has been damaged or destroyed. That has left many communities vulnerable to blackouts and energy shortages. In response, the RISE initiative will install small-scale rooftop solar panels with batteries, offering greater energy independence, resilience and local control.
The partnership was announced at the Energy Tech Summit in London and covered in The Times, which described the project as a major step toward rebuilding Ukraine’s energy system with modern, resilient technologies.
RISE aims to lower business energy costs by 10–25%. It also increases grid reliability and reduces demand during peak hours. Moreover, its decentralized design ensures greater security during wartime disruptions.
Ukraine holds up to 300 MW of untapped rooftop solar potential. RISE could help unlock this, while setting an example for other post-conflict regions. In doing so, it shows how clean energy can rebuild infrastructure from the ground up.
At MET3R, we support this shift toward decentralized, data-driven energy. Our tools enable microgrid monitoring, predictive analytics, and performance tracking. Learn more on our page about decentralized energy systems and analytics.
